The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
