The January recruitment period is typically a time of feverish rumour and potential major deals. Several prominent footballers find themselves linked with moves out of their present teams. We examine a selection of the key names that might be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, this has kept the forward available, it appears a significant move is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial buy-out clause active for a short window in early January. Recent reports suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. This England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer move to Liverpool falling through. With his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the London club's final chance to obtain a fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains difficult, especially given the manager's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has found starting opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started only a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an inquiry.

R. Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be set for a return to the Premier League following a period in Saudi Arabia. Now only 28, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the player. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça following new coach Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a January exit looks increasingly likely. Villa were initially linked as a potential suitor, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

This highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play.
